Inishbiggle comes to Westport, Castlebar and Turlough!

After Evening Prayer in Turlough, on Saturday 15 November

It was a pleasure to have a visit to the churches this weekend (14-16 November 2025) from Inishbiggle Rector's Church Warden, Christine Gibbs.

Chris has been helping with the restoration and repairs at Holy Trinity Church Inishbiggle over this last two years and was excited to look at such things in the other Aughaval churches as ventilation systems, grills and drains, as well as to meet fellow-LLLMs (/Parish Readers) including Fiona Kelly (pictured), Vestry members and parishioners in Westport.

Chris received a warm welcome in each of the churches and enjoyed being present in person (rather than virtually, on Zoom) at the Westport-Dugort Select Vestry meeting for the first time.

Our thanks to Chris for all the encouragement and ongoing hard work. Our parting words to her for now are 'Fare ye well!', 'Haste ye back!', and please take our love and warmest Christian greetings with you to all the islanders!

Turlough Glebe Warden James Potter gave Chris a mini-tour and history
of the church and showed Christine the grills,
part of the original heat and ventilation system in the church.

where emergency work has been taking place on very old pipes
which have sprung leaks.
