Today's gospel    Luke 11:27-28 While he [Jesus] was saying this, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, ‘Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts that nursed you!’ But he said, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!’ Christian Art A helpful reflection on this gospel and an artwork can be found here: https://christian.art/daily-gospel-reading/luke-11-27-28-2025/ The word of God In Christian thinking, "the word of God" refers to, (1), Christ the Living Word, and (2), the Bible, the written Word of God. Bearing in mind this double meaning helps us avoid 'bibliolatry' - idolising the Bible or almost worshipping the Bible rather than God.  This is not to say that the Bible should not be revered; a tenet of the Christian faith is that the Bible is a central way in which God continues to speak to us, human beings, and reveal God's self to us. Turlough Round Tower Co Mayo September 2025 Thought for the day " Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters." Today's gospel asks us to consider seriously are we gathering or scattering for the kingdom of God? Are we for or against Christ and his work of bringing healing and wholeness, peace and salvation to our communities, to the church, to the world and to individuals?  The gospel invites us to make God our dwelling and resting place, to make ourselves a resting place and dwelling for the Spirit of God, and to cast out of ourselves and put away from ourselves anything that is contrary to the goodness of God and the light of Christ. It encourages us to give ourselves to God's indwelling and service so that through us the light of Christ will shine into the darkness.    Luke 11:15-26 But some of them said, ‘He [Jesus] casts out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.’...

Tell her then to help me.”    But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.”   Sacred Space You can find a gentle prayer guide for today here: https://sacredspace.com/daily-prayer/2025-10-07/...
