Today's gospel: Love and Joy

John 15:9-11

[Jesus said] As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

What are the commandments Jesus desires us to keep? The answer is first and foremost the commandment to love - love God and love one another. How do we know what love is? Love is always inclined towards sacrifice and giving - sacrificial giving. (See 1 John 3:16 and https://bible.oremus.org/?ql=425026212. )
