What a thoroughly enjoyable and encouraging weekend it was in the parishes!
On Friday evening, Christ Church Castlebar was one of the venues for Culture night, organised by the Linen Hall Arts, as part of the annual weekend of music and cultural events.
On Saturday evening we had a wonderful celebration of the Harvest in the beautifully decorated Turlough Church. The guest speaker was Valerie Raitt who reflected on the work of Spiritual Tourism and Pilgrimage in the TLK Diocese, and on the Harvest and work of the Spirit to spiritual produce a harvest in our lives. Our thanks to Valerie, to Henry Gawley who sang two moving and beautiful country gospel songs, to Michele Gill who played the organ, to Fiona and Hilary who led the prayers, to Heather and all those who decorated the church- including a small army of children - and to those who prepared and served the tea. The collection will go to the Church of Ireland’s Bishops’ Appeal to bring support and relief in troubled places, through its partner agencies.
On Sunday, Saint Matthew’s Day, in Castlebar we had an outdoor baptism, of an adult, Christopher Butcher. The symbolism in the churchyard, of our being brought from death to life by “the washing of water and the Spirit” was all the more apparent in the graveyard location, with the sun shining on the candidate and the very supportive and happy congregation. We wish Chris every blessing as he embarks on his baptismal journey and Christian discipleship.
Services also took place in Westport and Dugort, and Valerie contributed to both of these, sharing an update and on her experiences and insights from her ministry across the diocese.

Here are a few images from the weekend, for your enjoyment.
