An expression of thanks for financial support and generosity, plus information
Go raibh maith agaibh go léir!
The Select Vestries of each of the Aughaval Parishes (- Westport-Dugort Union, Castlebar, and Turlough) wish, at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, to express sincere thanks for all the donations and generosity shown towards the parishes and their churches:
- Holy Trinity, Westport
- St Thomas's Dugort, Achill
- Holy Trinity, Inishbiggle
- Christ Church, Castlebar
- Turlough Church
A financial report is presented each year at the Annual Meeting of the General Vestry for each parish. Dates are published typically one month in advance of the meetings. Gratitude is extended to the Hon. Treasurers of the parishes and to those who audit the accounts, for their outstanding service in the parishes. Go raibh maith agait.
Westport-Dugort
The Select Vestry (chaired by the Rector) of the Westport-Dugort Union of Parishes wishes in particular to express its thanks to the following groups which raised funds through music and/or donated generously in 2025 towards the emergency repairs in Holy Trinity Church, Westport (a Grade 1 heritage building), following Storm Eowyn:
- Dublin Choral Union 6,627 euros
- Westport Festival of Chamber Music 1,000 euros
- Kathy Quinn with choir, orchestra and soloists ('Lumières') 3,600 euros
- Sandford and St Philip's Choir (Fauré's Requiem) 1,521 euros
We are truly thankful to each of these, and also to the many individuals who have contributed when attending events, concerts or services, and special thanks to all our parishioners who contribute on an ongoing basis, friends, ecumenical neighbours, and members of the community. Go raibh maith agaibh go léir.
Our thanks also to supervising architects and contractor George O'Malley Plastering and team on the specialist work undertaken with great skill and care and completed in October-November. The remaining repairs (stage two) to Holy Trinity Westport ceiling are underway and are anticipated to cost a further €32,960.00 (including VAT).
Information on donating towards the upkeep of the churches
Parish funds are gathered from many sources beginning with the Church of Ireland families and individuals within each church/parish. Their important gifts are supplemented by the generosity of donors and supporters from outside our own worshipping community. In fact, the largest portion of our funding comes from these donors.
Fundraising events and grants are also an important part of our efforts to secure funds each year.
Financial gifts towards parish funds - whether occasional gifts or regular - are therefore greatly appreciated.
