Today's gospel   Mark 6:30-34

The apostles gathered around Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught. He said to them, ‘Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.’ For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves. 

Now many saw them going and recognized them, and they hurried there on foot from all the towns and arrived ahead of them. As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

'Living Faith, Thriving Church'

Saturday 7 Feb

Revd Frank Bernardi, Rector of St George's Anglican Church, Tunis, is with us this weekend in TLK Diocese at the invitation of Bishop Michael with the Church of Ireland Council for Mission, as below:

Part One 
An opportunity for listening and conversation over refreshments, in the Rectory, Westport. A focus will be on ministering and living the Christian faith in a minority context.

Sat 7 Feb, 2-30pm - coffee and gather for 3-00pm start.

'KidSpace': Children’s spaces in Westport and Castlebar 

Since reopening Holy Trinity Westport we have been pleased to put in place an area, a Kids’ Corner/ KidSpace, recognising the children’s needs for a suitable and comfortable space to enjoy during services and to call their own. This will be supervised most Sundays by our Sunday Club leaders. For info., please contact Steffi or the Rector.  

A similar setting up of a space for the children has been brought about in Christ Church Castlebar, thanks in part to a generous grant received in 2025 by the Church of Ireland Priorities’ Fund, and thanks to the practical help of Select Vestry members. 

We plan similarly to put in place a KidSpace in Turlough, with the help of the Turlough Youth and Children's team, parents and helpers.  

The bishop will bless these spaces on Sunday 8 Feb during the services.

  • Christ Church, Castlebar: Bella Capella, on Saturday 6 June. Details to follow.

Giving towards the upkeep of the churches

The work and upkeep of the churches requires ongoing funding to meet costs. Each of our Church of Ireland parishes has charity (CRA) status - please see note below. 

One-time donations
You can securely give towards these costs and the upkeep of the churches using your phone or electronic device using the QR codes (below) which will direct you to the parishes’ iDonate pages. 

Regular giving 
Regular giving can be by means of the weekly envelope system (-information on request), or by standing order. 


Tax refund on donations
If you are a tax-payer, a tax refund on your donation can be made to your parish at no additional cost to you.

Return to Inishbiggle, Sat 15 February 2025

  It was especially joyful for a few of us from mainland Mayo to step foot again on Inishbiggle on 15th February, having been prevented by the weather from sailing on our last attempt at the end of November 2024. While on this occasion it was lashing in Limerick, wet in Westport, and raining cats and dogs in Castlebar, the sun was splitting the clouds gloriously on the approach to beautiful Biggle. Also uplifting was to arrive at the church and on entering to find it looking, if not transfigured, transformed - for example, with its newly-stripped and repolished pews, clean floors, doors, harmonica and walls, and a close-to-spotless vestry into the bargain. Hats off and enormous thanks to the church wardens for the hours of painstaking work - truly a labour of love for this precious and important place of gathering and worship, emanating from a sincere love for God and his people, of all faiths and persuasions.
