Today's gospel, Thur 5 February. Sent out on a mission
Please scroll down for notes and more notices.
Today's Gospel Mark 6:7-13
He [Jesus] called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He ordered them to take nothing for their journey except a staff; no bread, no bag, no money in their belts; but to wear sandals and not to put on two tunics. He said to them, ‘Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave the place. If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.’ So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent. They cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

'KidSpace': Children’s spaces in Westport and Castlebar
Since reopening Holy Trinity Westport we have been pleased to put in place an area, a Kids’ Corner/ KidSpace, recognising the children’s needs for a comfortable and equipped space to enjoy during services and to call their own. (See photos, below.) A similar setting up of a space for the children has been brought about in Christ Church Castlebar, thanks in part to a generous grant received in 2025 by the Church of Ireland Priorities’ Fund.
We plan similarly to put in place a KidSpace in Turlough, with the help of the Turlough Youth and Children's team, parents and helpers.
The bishop will bless these spaces on Sunday 8 Feb during the services.
