The Gospel Reading    John 8:1-11

...while Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him and he sat down and began to teach them.

The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery; and making her stand before all of them, they said to him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They said this to test him, so that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.

When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once again he bent down and wrote on the ground.

When they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the elders; and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. Jesus straightened up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, sir.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on do not sin again.”

Castlebar: Reconvening of the Annual Meeting of the General Vestry

Thurs 26 March, 7.30pm in Christ Church.

The purpose of the Easter Vestry meeting (the Annual Meeting of the General Vestry) is twofold:

1. The presentation of the previous year's accounts (2025); and

2. The election of a new Select Vestry for the year ahead (2026 - 2027).

In a Triennial Year the following appointments are also made:

- Diocesan Synodspersons plus Supplementals; and

- Parochial Nominatorsplus a Supplementals.

Reconvening is on account of a procedural error, wherein more than the permitted number of members were elected by the Meeting (on 10 March) to be Trustees and members of the Select Vestry for 2026-2027. Nominations are therefore invited again of any registered members of the General Vestry who meet the criteria for Trustee membership and are willing to serve in this capacity. Service on the Select Vestry is for one year at a time. Meetings take place four-to-six times per year and members must be able to attend. The purpose of the SV is to oversee the parish’s Finances, Fabrics, Furnishings and Compliance with law (- both State and Church law). For further information contact the Parish Governance Officer or the Rector at: email aughaval@tuam.anglican.org.

We look forward to another good year in church and parish life in Christ Church, Castlebar, place of warmth and welcome. “In the name of Christ, we welcome you!”
