Today's Gospel    Luke 11:27-28

While he [Jesus] was saying this, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, ‘Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts that nursed you!’ But he said, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!’

Comment on the gospel

The meaning of "the word of God" is understood primarily in two ways in Christian thinking: first, there is Christ, the Living Word of God; and second, there is the Bible, the written Word.  How is my relationship with these?

This morning's Psalm    Psalm 105

1  O give thanks to the Lord and call upon his name; ♦︎
make known his deeds among the peoples.
2  Sing to him, sing praises, ♦︎
and tell of all his marvellous works.
3  Rejoice in the praise of his holy name; ♦︎
let the hearts of them rejoice who seek the Lord.

4  Seek the Lord and his strength; ♦︎
   seek his face continually.
5  Remember the marvels he has done, ♦︎
his wonders and the judgements of his mouth,
6  O seed of Abraham his servant, ♦︎
O children of Jacob his chosen.
7  He is the Lord our God; ♦︎
his judgements are in all the earth.
